GX Simulator serial communication

I'm struggling to test the comms between GX Simulator (LLTT - serial comms function), and scada (ifix) via either an IGS driver or MIT driver.
I'm having no success getting the serial comms function to respond. I've checked the comm port setting both ends but no joy, any suggestions?
