We have BN 3300 condition monitoring system installed on 2 of our 50 MW Westinghouse w251b11 gas turbine and one 70 MW Siemens steam turbine.
We have observed instant spikes in the values of radial vibrations of the GTs which only last in milliseconds. These values are not bearing specific and occur on different bearing from time to time. Observations are as follows:
-Value of spike is the max value of the channel.
-Duration of spike is in msec.
-Spike can occur on any of GT bearings.
-Probes and proximitors are healthy.
-Radio or signal interference is negligible in the area.
-Grounding for BN3300 is common with DCS ground.
Any suggestion in rectifying this fault will be a huge help.
Though these values are not causing any trips as there is 3 sec inherent delay on BN3300 system and 2 sec delay in DCS but are nuisance. Management gets edgy whenever this alarm shows up in daily report.
