We have in our gas turbine frame 7E a problem of failure to start due to starting clutch disengage. after the investigation, we have to study to replace the starting clutch with type 74T SSS Starting Clutches (automatic). So, do you have an experience with this type and is it reliable?

 

I have assisted with installations of the SSS clutch on some older Frame 5 units replacing the original jaw style clutch. The SSS design has been very reliable since installation. GE uses a SSS on most of the 7FA machines for the turning gear as well.

 

is this type of clutches recommended from GE?

does it need to configure with MRK V and VI?

i communicated the manufacture and all the installations were only for frame FIVE. is there any one install this type in frame 7E? i need the feedback from him.
