MARK-VIe Installation

We are in process of up-grading MARK-II to MARK-VIe control system on our Frame-5 (25MW) gas turbine. Currently MARK-II control system is installed on this turbine. We are procuring MARK-VIe separate Marshaling and system cabinet now. MARK-II system cabinet is currently installed in local compartment.

We are inclined to install MARK-VIe marshaling cabinet in area compartment and re-locate MARK-VIe system cabinet in Central Control Room which is 180 meter away from GTG local compartment. In this case we have to lay additional cables from GTG compartment to rack room with larger job scope.

What are point of concerns in this prototype? Any body with such an experience?

Thanks & Regards,
Adeel

Unless you have other reasons for locating the Mark VIe control cabinet in your central control room, it would be much more cost effective to put the control cabinet in the local control compartment and just locate the HMI (operator interface) in the Central Control Room. That would leave you with just 2 fiber optic cables to interconnect the HMI with the control cabinet.

If you really want the control cabinet in the Central Control Room, you could also consider locating a remote I/O cabinet in the local control compartment, which would add at least 2 more fiber optic cables to connect the IO NET, plus some hardwiring for protective functions. You would need to check with GE to make sure remote I/O is available to interface with the sensors and servos on your machine.
