difference between redundancy and dual redundancy

Dual redundancy means there are two, usually a primary with fail-over to the backup. Triple redundancy means there are three, usually in a two out of three voting configuration. In theory, you could design higher levels of redundancy, but I suspect the return on investment would not justify it.
