Powering simple cycle GE 9e from local mark 6e panel

We about to fire GE 9e on simple cycle. Problem is our control room is not ready yet. So we need to operate our GT from local Mark 6e panel. Can anyone tell me what kind of problems we are going face in this regard? Is it possible to operate only from mark 6e local panel?

nayan.sharif,

The real problem is: Why ISN'T the Control Room ready?! Why wasn't someone tasked with ensuring this critical part of the plant was "on schedule" and ready for initial operation of the turbine?

The GE HMI, while technically necessary to send commands to and monitor the operation of and receive alarms (LOTS of alarms!) from the Mark VIe turbine control panel, is not "the" Mark VIe. The Mark VIe is the turbine control panel, and the HMI is just a device for communicating with (sending commands to, monitoring the operation of, receiving (LOTS) of alarms from) the Mark VIe turbine control panel.

Because the Mark VIe uses an Ethernet-based network, the UDH, to communicate with HMIs an HMI can be located anywhere an Ethernet connection can be routed to.

The ONE thing you want to be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN about is that if you are only using one HMI (from any location) is that it MUST BE THE MASTER HMI. This is critical during start-up activities because fine tuning of various parameters will be taking place during initial starting, and you want to be CERTAIN that all changes are saved to the Master .m6b file on the Master HMI. DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU THEY CAN COPY THE MASTER .m6b FILE TO ANY HMI AND THEN COPY IT BACK TO THE MASTER HMI WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THEY ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH TO YOU--OR THEMSELVES ToolboxST has to be re-directed to a temporary location and reconfiguring ToolboxST to do this--and then un-reconfiguring ToolboxST--is a nightmare and absolutely certain to cause problems for years to come.

If you have the room in the "local" area to set up the network switches and the Master HMI and another HMI so that the Master HMI is accessible from the other HMI that would be okay--but it's a LOT of work to do so.

You have been warned.

Dear CSA

Many many thanks for your wonderful reply... yes we have a local HMI and from that one, we are going operate our GT. That HMI is master HMI. Still not sure if another HMI can be arranged or not.

Our EPC is still behind their schedule. Even some auxiliaries are still under construction. But due to unavoidable situation we are going to fire within short period of time. So we have to operate our GT from local HMI.

Thanks again....
