Dear Colleagues,

I'm asking you for help about sizing a Diesel Generator(DG) for Island mode of Small Hydro power Plant:

1. The SHPP is 1 MW;
2. Connected to 35 kV network (with isolated neutral);

My questions are:

1. With what capacity I've to select the DG, so the power plant to work with it's all power

2. Did I've to foresee some additional automation when the network restart again

3. Is the DG has to be Black start DG or ordinary (because we will connected to 35kV bus-bars on the SHPP, and use it only for synchronization - is it possible?)

Thanks in advance

Best regards,

Some additional info:

The scheme of the SHPP is Block (Generator Voltage is 6,3kV connected to Step Up Power transformer 35kV, without circuit breaker between them).

The DG will be connected to the 35kV bus bars trough 0,4/35kV step up power transformer with Directional Phase Overcurrent Protection ANSI 67.
