What is the difference between a Rockwell Guardlogix controller and a Rockwell ICS triplex AADvance Controller in terms of Functional safety?

I guess TMR(Tripple Modular Redundancy) could be the major difference.

Can anyone explain in detail?

Hi Tharun,

Guardlogix and AADvance is different in their application, guardlogix mainly applied to "Machine Safety" while AADvance mainly applied to "Process Safety".

There are differences concept between Machine Safety and Process Safety: machine safety usually "fail safe" while process safety usually "fault tolerant / high availability". The purpose of machine safety is not to keep machine running in the event of failure. For machine safety system, the primary requirement is that no matter what fails in the system or how it fails, we will always go to a "safe mode" (Outputs OFF) when required.
