Motor Axial Thrust

Hello there

I have a question regarding motors axial thrust.

How much usually is the total axial float in motor having ball bearings? Do we usually have a bearing for controlling its thrust?

In most of the cases we have bearings to control its radial load and not the axial load and it is normally controlled through the thrust bearing in pump/compressor or what ever is driven.

Does the coupling type defines the types of bearing to be used in the motor?

Same goes for generators. I haven't seen a generator yet that has a thrust bearing, why is it so?

Looking forward to hear from you guys.

Thanks
