Is it right to connect ordinary wires to M12 Cable ends by soldering? Am using it for laboratory purpose only. The environment is not rugged. Will there be any distortions in transmission of 4-20 mA signals?

 

soldering is a perfectly acceptable means of making up such a connector.

solder does not normally introduce any kind of "distortions" at all onto an electrical signal if done properly.

There doesn't look to be any magic in the sensor cables I've seen. We buy connectors and make up our own on occasion or replace damaged plugs. And lack of distortion is pretty much the reason for current loops. By definition the current is the same in all parts of the loop. You would do well to keep the wires grouped together, but anything within reason should work fine.
