Connecting S5 928B to AB PLC5/40

Hi all,

I would like to connect the above 2 mentioned PLCs in a smart way.

What are my options? Ethernet would be preferred method and for the AB
quite easy. Not sure how well the S5 would deal with that. The industrial
ethernet for the S5 is being phased out by Siemens. Could we connect an
S7 with ethernet to the S5?
