Deadband of LVM for Bearing Temperature

Hey I would be glad if anybody will help me out of this situation.
I work on maxDNA DCS at our 250MW thermal plant.

Recently one of Pulverizer tripped on bearing temperature high. The reading was spurious. The trip value is 82 cel. It so happened that the actual value was 78 deg cel at that time and for 5s the value showed erratic value above 90 and then it returned to actual value of 78 deg cel. The trip signal is derived from an LVM with Limit value of 82 deg cel and dead band 5. This LVM block was followed by a TON block of 10s. Now my questions are,

1. Is it possible for the temperature to come below the dead band value within 10s?(5deg cel/10s)

2. Wouldn't it be advisable to keep the deab band low so that in case of spurious signal, the LVM block would reset itself earlier and hence avoid trip?

3. Normally how much time can I run a machine with bearing temperature high?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks
