Excitation Transformer Sizing: Short Circuit Current

Hello,

Does an auxiliary line feed's short circuit current have any effect on a transformer's size (interms of KVA)?

If so can you please explain how to go about sizing the transformer?

Thanks in advance for the response.

Mike... the answer to your question is no! That is, a transformer's kVA capacity is determined by the load it has to carry.

A transformer's primary-winding is designed to withstand the effects of a short-circuit on its secondary terminals. This is why transformers have a minimums SC-impedance value!
