The inverter circuit in a vector control drive is made up of IGBTs. I want to know that how should we test the IGBTs individually. The inverter circuit as a whole is not giving any output.

 

Gross testing can be done with a DMM looking for
C-E shorts. Can't easily detect opens. Functional testing is a little more complex.

A curve tracer is really handy for this, but they can be bench tested in a similar manner to a FET. The particulars will depend on the type, but in general, functional testing can be done by, with the emitter common, supplying the collector through a resistor and varying base voltage to see if the device turns on. The spec sheet will also have test diagrams in most cases.
