Sir,
I hope this email of mine is not disturbing any of your intense and valuable work neither am I taking a lot of your precious time. Actually I am a student of Chemical Engineering and I have an assignment to carry out regarding the “Introduction, principles, working, advancements, capabilities, and operational nature of the Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and a Distributed Control System (DCS).
Sir being a student in a third world country where we are not able to consult the advanced International study material and modern day technology I appeal to you to please help me out of this situation where I am finding myself unable to find a resource material on these topics given above (PLC & DCS).
Sir I humbly request you send some of the study material or research papers through email or guide me to the sites available on the internet where I can find helpful resource material on these topics. Sir any participation from your side would be a great help for whole of our final year Chemical Engineering class and we would be very grateful to you regarding your kindness to help some students who really want to learn these modern equipments for the betterment of a healthy and prosperous world.
Sir I know it would be better if I collaborate with some university teacher regarding these topics but sir I don’t have any email addresses of the professors. If kindly sir you help us by sending some study material through email or if you can send them through mail, I on the behalf of my whole class would be very obliged.
Sir I would be waiting impatiently for your positive response please sir give us a chance because we require nothing but study material to study and to be good for our mother earth.

I will help you where I can. I work in the Advanced Controls division of a multinational utility. My department deals with putting such things as PLC and DCS systems into operation. However, if you feel that you need more understanding of how a PLC and a DCS operate, you could easily utilize the internet to search for those phrases.

For example: Search for 'Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers' or search for 'Introduction to Distributed Control Systems'.
See what results get returned to you. You did not mention if you have tried this already, but it seems like a good place to start.

There is a large number of internet locations (web sites, we call them) that specialize in PLC usage and DCS usage.

For PLCs: "www.ab.com":http://www.ab.com (Allen-Bradley)

"www.siemens.com":http://www.siemens.com (Siemens)

"www.ge-fanuc.com":http://www.ge-fanuc.com (General Electric)

For DCS web sites, they are too numerous to mention, and it would be better for you to use the search engine on the internet. Search 'distributed control system', if that does not work, try going to "www.foxboro.com":http://www.foxboro.com .

Hopefully this will help you. I am uncertain if this will give you too much information to pick from. If you need more of a beginner's guide to PLC operations, go to "www.plctutor.com":http://www.plctutor.com . They have a wonderful introduction on PLC operations.
