I was Just Informed By my Current Employer, In which I've worked for 5 year's now, that we can't say or advertise that we do Custom VB/VBA
Sofware or ANY Custom Programming because of the liability issues surrounding it, I've been a Software developer for 15 years, and this
statement just Confuses me to no end, does any other Automation Companys advertise Such a thing, VB/VBA / C++ ODBC, MYSQL .? any of the sort

Why does AB Pack VBA in there product if u can't use it??

Ive wrote oodles of code for my Company as it stands, I'm about ready to move on to a much bigger Company in which my services are needed.

id like to hear other opinions and storys

Thanks

I'm not sure about the legal side, but "custom" code (ie: non-ladder logic) certainly raises the future support liability.

I've asked a number of large users about Java and other fairly common "modern" tools and the answer usually comes back "No way - it's hard enough just finding qualified engineers that can handle both our process and common PLC tools - adding something like that would make it near impossible!"
